The CFPB released a Memorandum which describes the CFPB’s policy of equal treatment of lawfully married same-sex couples. For purposes of the federal consumer financial laws within the CFPB’s jurisdiction, the CFPB will treat a person who is married under the laws of any jurisdiction as married nationwide regardless of the person’s place of residency.
